About British Falcon Plastics and our Commitment to the Environment
Surrounded by Devon’s countryside we are always aware of how special and fragile the environment is. The energy that we use to process our products is fully renewable. Together with our customers, we are committed to protecting it, using technology and design solutions to minimise waste and maximise recyclability with our use of RPET plastic made from recycled plastic products.
This commitment is visible in each stage of our product lifestyle. We use materials sourced from ethical UK producers, and we use recycled plastics wherever possible. All of these plastics are recyclable and our aim is for nothing that leaves our site to have to end up in a landfill. In our production processes, we aim to be totally waste-free, and all of our plastic off-cuts and excess is carefully sorted onsite, and passed to accredited recycling centres.
Recycling
Our Plastic of choice is RPET, which is a plastic made of about 80% recycled PET products such as old drinks bottles. RPET is visually indistinguishable from a ‘virgin’ unrecycled plastic and it is 100% recyclable and can be continually reused for new products. It is certified for food use, and it has good properties for many applications, such as being both strong and light, having a very clean transparent appearance, and being very resistant to shattering.
We understand that there is never a solution that fits every challenge so we also work with many other plastics where different properties are required, and all of these are recyclable.
BRCGS AA Certification
We are very proud to hold BRCGS AA grade for Packaging materials.
The BRC Global Standard for Packaging materials is the first Packaging Standard in the world to be recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GSFI) benchmarking committee. The standard focuses on product safety and quality, site standards and process control and offers our customers complete confidence in our products, no matter how demanding the industry.
